    IF I WERE A POEM

    If I were a poem
    I’d expect
    People to spend
    More time looking at me
    And
    Less time trying to figure me out

    If I were a poem
    I’d have rhymes some times
    And
    Free verse
    Never

    If I were a poem
    I’d say a lot about nothing
    And often repeat myself
    And often repeat myself
    And
    Often
    Repeat
    My
    Self

    If I was a poem,
    I’d be inconsistent and
    Hope somebody
    Noticed.

    If I were a poem
    I’d make myself plain
    So nobody could
    Say
    That I’m not writing
    Loud enough

    If I were a poem
    I’d lie around on a
    Paper all day
    And dance around
    Minds all night

    If I were a poem
    I’d write
    Myself
    Down.
